If you’re a CableLabs member, you’ve most likely worked with Kyrio for DOCSIS® certification testing. Did you know that Kyrio has several testing services outside of the certification program? As a subsidiary of CableLabs, we are experts at facilitating the adoption of innovations created in CableLabs throughout a technology’s lifecycle. As such, Kyrio is focused on helping members successfully adopt and implement those technologies into their environments to help achieve your business goals. In this blog, I’ll outline five ways CableLabs members can engage with Kyrio testing services that you might not know about.
1. Product Evaluation
You’re focused on delivering great experiences to your end customers and choosing the right CPE devices for your service offerings. Doing so can be tough, especially when that device will be deployed to hundreds or thousands of customers. To ensure the best end user experience for your customers, Kyrio can perform an independent comparative analysis between several devices to aid in the product procurement phase of your decision making. Alternatively, if you’re already working with a manufacturer, you can request that they send their device to Kyrio for testing so that we can provide you the best testing information to make fully informed procurement decisions.
2. Validation Testing
Validation testing helps you understand the performance of your wired or wireless device. This type of testing helps determine whether your device functions as intended and what defects may exist. Additionally, because testing occurs in a controlled environment, such as an anechoic or semi-anechoic chamber, this testing can identify problems related to antenna design, RF interference and hardware design.
3. Customized Testing
If you have a product or service that’s causing increased service calls, Kyrio can work with you to build a targeted testing plan to troubleshoot and resolve your issue. One way we help members with this type of testing is at our test house, where we take into account different clients interacting with your device, various construction mediums (i.e., brick, drywall, concrete), interference, client saturation, legacy devices and other factors that may affect your device’s performance. Ultimately, this type of testing focuses on unveiling device issues to reduce the number of service calls.
4. Interoperability and IoT Testing
Operators today are looking to new technologies that can provide a better experience for end customers. And though it’s no surprise that end customers are installing Internet of Things (IoT) devices into the home for convenience or energy automation, ultimately those devices sit and operate on members’ networks. As such, to ensure the best end user experience, there’s a concerted effort to validate whether those devices are interoperable with other devices on the network. Two ways that you can prepare your device for connected environments are IoT and interoperability testing at our test house facility and certifying your IoT device through the Open Connectivity Foundation certification program.
5. Field Testing Support
As new innovations come out of CableLabs, members look to new technologies as a way to diversify and improve their networks. Today, we offer members field testing support in their new deployments to help them with vendor or technology evaluations.
