Serving millions of people across 60-plus cities in 29 states, izzi is Mexico’s largest broadband services provider to residential and commercial customers. On the cutting edge of the latest technologies, izzi is not only a principal broadband service operator, but also a thought leader for cable providers and suppliers worldwide.
Maximize device performance to deliver a first-class customer experience.
Malfunctioning and underperforming devices within a home or business can cause performance issues for customers. For operators, these problems lead to an increase in technician dispatching (truck rolls) and customer service calls. With so much riding on device performance, izzi needs to ensure that all devices deployed function to their optimal capabilities and deliver the best end user experience possible.
While izzi’s engineering team conducts initial testing, they augment their process to include third-party wireless device comparisons, often referred to as comparison testing. A key deliverable from this testing is a comparative report of all similarly evaluated devices to help guide decisions about which device(s) will best fulfill their requirements.
To support this challenge, izzi turns to Kyrio, the communication industry’s leading third-party test lab.
izzi and Kyrio create a comprehensive and repeatable test strategy and communication plan.
As a member of CableLabs, izzi routinely travels to Colorado to work and meet with the CableLabs team in person.
izzi decided to leverage Kyrio to work directly with izzi’s device suppliers on the specified test plan. In addition to this comparison test program, subsequent plans are already underway to add optical network terminals (ONTs), set-top boxes (STBs) and extenders to the devices being tested by Kyrio on behalf of izzi.
Supplier submits device for testing – izzi instructs suppliers to submit their sample device directly to Kyrio for testing. Kyrio works with the supplier and fully manages the entire project for each device under test (DUT).
Kyrio testing – Kyrio’s testing team utilizes a controlled lab environment and semi-controlled test house environment. Each set of tests is highly repeatable and predictable for every DUT type.
Supplier test report readout – Kyrio’s seasoned wireless engineers provide both the supplier and izzi with a comprehensive report that includes insights as well as raw data output for further diagnostics.
Comprehensive comparative report readout – Separately, Kyrio provides izzi with a detailed report comparing all DUTs across all tests performed.

Benefits to Suppliers
Although izzi ultimately makes the decision to conduct the comparison testing, suppliers can also expect to see benefits from testing with Kyrio.
Testing with Kyrio allows suppliers to have a clear understanding of how their device will be evaluated with the assurance that all other devices will be evaluated in the same manner.
“I’ve talked with suppliers who have told me that this testing was mutually beneficial because they also get the full report of how they are performing,” says Madiedo. “Even if they already have their own testing and report, they also want to see what a third party thinks as well.”
Improved end user experience
Clear testing results
Over the past three years, izzi has deployed millions of units into homes and businesses across Mexico. As a result of testing with Kyrio, izzi is confident in the devices it puts onto its network, knowing that its decisions are supported by comprehensive data and insights validated by a trusted third-party test lab.
