ARC stands for Adaptive Route Control, Kyrio’s new solution to a very common user connectivity issue. Since operators often have very little control over the quality of their customers’ Wi-Fi connection, if Wi-Fi is not working well, customers often take matters into their own hands by switching it off and relying solely on the cellular network. This causes many issues for the operator, such as additional costs associated with routing traffic over the cellular network, declining customer satisfaction, greater customer churn, and—ultimately—a decrease in competitiveness and profitability. ARC gets to the root of these issues by giving end-to-end control over the entire user experience back to the operator. Customers don’t want to manage their connectivity and now, thanks to ARC, they don’t have to.
ARC is a flexible, cloud-based solution that doesn’t require modification to mobile devices or to cellular and Wi-Fi network infrastructures. ARC simply monitors network performance and application traffic patterns in order to automatically route traffic to cellular if Wi-Fi gets unreliable, and back to Wi-Fi when Wi-Fi is again providing good service. How or when that route change happens is completely up to the operator. ARC allows the operator to set policies that direct the network traffic over the best performing and least expensive facility. This traffic route customization is enabled per customer, per application type, and in real-time—ensuring smooth, uninterrupted customer experience while potentially generating significant cost savings. ARC can also be easily integrated with future 3GPP solutions (like 5G ATSSS) when they become available.
